About Us
Meet Margo, Owner & SLP
Margo Svendsen is a certified Spelling to Communicate (S2C) practitioner and Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years of experience. She continues her work in public education while expanding into private practice to provide more individualized, neurodiversity-affirming support for nonspeaking and minimally speaking individuals. After reading Underestimated by JB and Jamison Handley and witnessing a former student communicate through S2C, Margo experienced a profound shift in her understanding of communication—recognizing the powerful role of motor skills in accessing language. This led her to complete training through the International Association for Spelling as Communication (I-ASC) and become a certified practitioner. Margo is a co-founder of Spellers Portland, a passion-driven initiative focused on expanding access to authentic communication for nonspeakers and creating an inclusive space that welcomes all spelling-based approaches. Her work is grounded in presuming competence and centers on helping individuals build independence, confidence, and a reliable voice.
